Race Results: November 4th, 5th and 6th - North South Shootout Caraway Speedway. Zane and crew prepared the Gary Cretty #29 ATC, Cojones Energy Shots Modified, the Precision Motorsports, Cojones Energy Shots, Long Hill Auto Service #76 Super Late Model and the Jeff Willett/Scott Matarazzo, Cojones Energy Shots #76 Sport Modified for this event. The weekend brought some challenges which included limited practice due to the weather but Zane and crew never gave up. John Blewett III North/South Shootout in Memory of Charles Kepley Tour Type Modified Event - Zane started the race in 19th position after limited practice in the #29 ATC, Cojones Energy Shots Modified. We all knew that once the race started that Zane and the #29 would move forward. While running 15th the yellow flag flew at lap 54, nearly the entire field decided to pit for the mandatory pit stop. Pit road was really congested, Zane and crew came out of the pits in 11th position picking up 4 positions during the pit stop. When racing resumed Zane continued to race hard and advance all the way to the 4th position. Zane and crew eventually finished 5th in the 125 lap event. It was a great finish earning Zane the Hard Charger Award for gaining the most positions during the 125 lap event. CRA Super Late Model Event - Zane qualified 8th but during the redraw for starting positions he was awarded with the 1st starting position. Contact with another competitor while leading the race on lap 3 caused to car to spin and make contact with the inside wall off turn 4. During an extended caution period a few laps later the crew was able to make the necessary repairs and adjustments in the pits. Zane and the #76 Cojones Energy Shots Super Late Model came home to finish in 6th place. Sport Modified Event - Zane earned the pole position award but unfortunately contact with another competitor in the closing laps damaged the steering in the #76 Cojones Energy Shots Sport Modified and we had to settle for an 11th place finish. 10/9/11 - Mountain Speedway, King of the Mountain Weekend. Zane and crew made a strong 3rd place qualifying effort in the Gary Cretty #29 ATC modified. The race was not exactly what we all had expected, after running in the top five contact with a lapped car sent Zane to the pits for repairs but the damage was so severe that the #29 was not able to return to the race. 10/8/11 - Mountain Speedway, King of the Mountain Weekend. Zane and crew finished a respectable 7th place with the Cojones Energy Shots, Mark Mollitt #14 sport modified. 9/24/11 - New Hampshire 100 NASCAR WHELEN Modified Tour Race. Zane and crew finished a very strong 7th place in the Gary Cretty #25 ATC Dodge with Barry Kuhnel (NASCAR modified mastermind) as crew chief. Although the weekend started out difficult with unpredictable weather, reduced practice and some brake problems, Zane managed to qualify the ATC Dodge in the 20th position with very limited practice. It was a great learning experience for Zane and crew, we are all looking forward to our return to NHMS in 2012 9/11/2011 - Mountain Speedway Modified Race, after a long break from racing it was time for Zane to get back behind the wheel. Zane and crew prepared the #76 sport modified owned by Jeff Willett and Scott Matarazzo for a tour type modified race!!! After starting the race deep in the field Zane battled his way up to 2nd place, after multiple attempts to take the lead the race was suddenly marred with multiple caution flags causing Zane to reattempt the pass for the lead over and over. Unfortunately during one of the attempts to pass for the lead the rear end gave way and the car no longer could continue in the race. It was an impressive effort for not driving a race car for nearly 7 weeks. |
